What is Powered by Action?
Our mission is to bring developing communities to thriving self-sufficiency. We practice holistically: connecting sponsors, partner organizations, local donors, local expert groups, and local residents. Our online donor site provides transparency on every dollar that is at work.
Our vision is to build a global network of sponsors committed to transforming hundreds of communities around the world. Each sponsor comes with a unique and differential set of skills and ability and a proven track record of performance in the required areas of expertise as defined by each building block in our blueprint.
What is the Need
Almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day , many of whom are illiterate, homeless and dying from fatal diseases, hunger, and lack of clean water.
Although there are a many nonprofits and philanthropies with both the mission and capacity to invest in global humanitarian and economic development programs, Powered by Action is among the very few that are using innovative technologies and leveraging public and private sector resources to create permanent solutions in these developing and distressed communities.

Our Approach
Powered by Action’s model is about innovating, leveraging, and collaborating at all levels of society to solve important social problems impacting communities throughout the world.
Choose a village, sponsor, launch and complete the campaign.
- Step 1: Sponsors like you browse profiles of communities in need, and choose a place to sponsor. When they sponsor, using their credit cards, Powered by Action collects the funds and then awards them to one of our development partners worldwide.
- Step 2: Powered by Action’s development partners employs local entrepreneurs and residents to carryout the work. The development partners may provide training and other assistance to maximize local job creation.
- Step 3: In time, the campaign is complete with permanent village improvements. Impact information and other updates are posted on Powered by Action and emailed to sponsors.
- Step 4: When sponsors get the campaign impact information, they can sponsor a different campaign for the same village or for a new place while still receiving updates about all previously sponsored communities
The Blueprint
At the epicenter of our approach is a proven blueprint that implements key blocks that couples traditional humanitarian donations and innovative economic development. Together our building blocks effectively provide a “planned neighborhood” catalyzed by businesses, infrastructure and village champions that are all necessary components in implementing what we call the “next generation village/community.”

The Facts: Education and other social investments create a competitive advantage for communities, which drives sustainable economic development in target communities
The Strategy: Increase educational attainment levels with performance incentives, specialized teacher training, and a free college education

The Facts: Permanent social and economic infrastructure investments in a community stimulates market activity by creating jobs, increasing household and business income, and reducing the cost of public services.
The Strategy: Work with local delivery partners to develop social and economic infrastructure, including schools, wells, orphanages, banks, farms, food pantries, clinics, and housing. Ensure that governments, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, or other local stakeholders operate and maintain these investments.
