Action Haiti – Earthquake Relief Campaign

SPONSOR THIS CAMPAIGN

Overview

The natural catastrophe that occurred on January 12, 2010, has generated great concern for the people of Haïti. As details of the devastation are uncovered, many of us are moved to action. We are confident that you are compelled to take action in this time of need. Powered by Action and the Carma Foundation have united to establish the Action Haïti – Earthquake Relief Campaign. This campaign has one simple goal – to provide humanitarian aid to specific communities of survivors who have been impacted by the earthquake.

The Carma Foundation has setup a tent city approximately 15 minutes from the airport in the Croix des Bouquets suburb of Port-au-Prince in Village Theodat. At this location, we have 140 families who have migrated to the camp, which represents approximately 600 people who are in need and waiting on aide. In addition, 100 orphans from the Carma House orphanage located in Leogane, Haiti survived the earthquake, even though the orphanage itself was destroyed. The Earthquake Relief Campaign will harvest necessary aid to support these families and orphans. All donations received through the campaign will go immediately towards procuring, transporting and delivering aide to these two communities of survivors.

As more specific communities of survivors are identified, we will look to distribute aide to them as well in concert with current relief activities being driven by USAID, the Red Cross and other international organizations.

We ask that you support this effort by acting now and making a donation to the Earthquake Relief Campaign.

We received some good news today coming out of Haiti.

It was confirmed that the 40 orphans, who were living at Carma House in Leogane, Haiti, survived the earthquake. Unfortunately, the orphanage itself was completely destroyed and the children are currently sleeping outside in the open on the property. In addition, 60 other children are now counted as part of Carma House as they’ve been recently orphaned by the earthquake. As a result, we now have 100 children in Leogane, Haiti, who are in need of aide.
