In 1997 she was appointed to the Los Angeles Economic Development Commission (LAEDC) Board of Governors by then Los Angeles County Second District Supervisor Yvonne Braithwaite Burke, and in 2009, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas of the same district extended her appointment. She currently sits in both LAEDC’s Executive and Workforce Development Committees.
Today, as a sought-after speaker and lecturer, Janice is the embodiment of the importance of combining education and entrepreneurship with service. Cheryle R. Jackson is president and CEO of the venerable Chicago Urban League, one of the city’s most respected social and civil justice organizations. Appointed in October 2006, Jackson is the first female to hold the position in its 92-year history. The Urban League focuses on the city’s African American workforce and business community to empower and inspire individuals to reach and exceed their economic potential.
Prior to her history-making appointment at the Urban League, Ms. Jackson served in the administration of Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich, most recently as deputy chief of staff of communications and before that as communications director and chief press secretary, making her both the first woman and African American to hold the position in the state’s history.
Before joining Gov. Blagojevich’s administration, Ms. Jackson spent three years in senior-level government affairs positions with Amtrak as vice president for communications and government affairs. She was responsible for Amtrak’s state and local government affairs and served as spokesperson in 41 states, often during times of crises, including the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
In addition, she served in various capacities at National Public Radio (NPR), including as vice president of communications and brand management, director of corporate communications and director of corporate identity and information. Among her charges, Jackson served as national spokesperson and oversaw the network’s national marketing, advertising and public affairs operations.
Jackson serves as a director on the boards of the Field Museum, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Northwestern University, the Metropolitan Planning Council, and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the 2016 Chicago Olympics Committee and the Daniel Burnham Anniversary Planning Committee.
Jackson is a native of Chicago and graduated from Northwestern University in 1988. She and her husband, Charles, reside on Chicago’s South Side.

In this role, Liz drives ~$800M in sales and revenue across Accenture’s five core service lines - strategy, customer relationship management, supply chain, human performance and finance and performance management, as well three industry programs (communications, high tech and media and entertainment).
Prior to this role, Liz worked as part of Accenture’s New Businesses group where she was responsible for identifying and launching new businesses within Accenture, globally. Specifically, she launched a B2B global digital supply chain business as well as a data quality management business.
Liz has served as a managing partner within the Accenture Communications and High Tech Industry Group. She was responsible for selling and developing core functional offerings to companies based in the eastern region of North America, then a $1 Billion organization.
Throughout her twenty plus career with Accenture, Liz has worked with leading companies on a broad range of strategic issues. In recent years, Liz specialized in the sale and delivery of new business and product strategies as well as large, complex computer systems for national telecommunication providers.
Liz is very involved in Accenture’s Women and Diversity efforts. She’s held multiple leadership roles in this capacity. Most importantly, she is a constant advocate for the promotion and retention of women and minorities. Liz also leads and speaks at Accenture’s women client events including The Women’s Leadership Forum and International Women’s Day.
An active fundraiser for breast cancer research, Liz leads Accenture’s annual campaign for the Susan B. Komen Foundation, and has taken leadership roles in the NYC “Race for the Cure.”
A long-time resident of Chicago, Liz is a member of both the Chicago Economic Club and the Executive’s Club of Chicago. She is the co-sponsor of the Executive Club’s Women’s Networking Program.
Liz graduated from Ohio State University with a BS in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. In spite of the recent setbacks to their BCS Bowl bids, she is an avid Buckeye fan. She also has an Executive MBA from IMD, the international business school in Lausanne, Switzerland. Liz and her husband, John, live in River Forest, Illinois, with their children Katie (17), Jack (14) and Will (9). In her spare time, Liz enjoys running, skiing and attempting to play golf.
